One unforeseen effect of the change of programme was how it emphasised the issue of rural broadband coverage. This topic was hotly debated during the afternoon MP Small Business Question Time session with many delegates complaining that rural, and some not so rural, locations are struggling to compete because they cannot get a decent broadband connection.
At the end of the day Martin McTague summed up the day’s proceedings and mentioned that, as they were unable to attend the event, Greg Clark and Jeremy Corbyn had both recorded videos to be played at the conference.
Unfortunately, the broadband connection at the venue was not sufficient to download the videos. Not great for the delegates, but a wonderful way to illustrate the broadband lottery we all have to play in the UK.
